HSC 3030 Week 1 Assignment 3 The Politics of Medicare and Medicaid

Analyzed and assessed two articles related to the politics of Medicare and Medicaid.

Summarized the main points of the article.

Analyzed and explained in detail the issues pertaining to the politics of Medicare and Medicaid.

Provided judgments about the impact of the issue relative to the provisions for services to Medicare and Medicaid recipients.

Used correct spelling, grammar, and professional vocabulary. Cited all sources using APA format.

Discussion Questions (DQ)
• Initial responses to the DQ should address all components of the questions asked, include a minimum of one scholarly source, and be at least 250 words.
• Successful responses are substantive (i.e., add something new to the discussion, engage others in the discussion, well-developed idea) and include at least one scholarly source.
• One or two sentence responses, simple statements of agreement or “good post,” and responses that are off-topic will not count as substantive. Substantive responses should be at least 150 words.
• I encourage you to incorporate the readings from the week (as applicable) into your responses.
Weekly Participation
• Your initial responses to the mandatory DQ do not count toward participation and are graded separately.
• In addition to the DQ responses, you must post at least one reply to peers (or me) on three separate days, for a total of three replies.
• Participation posts do not require a scholarly source/citation (unless you cite someone else’s work).
• Part of your weekly participation includes viewing the weekly announcement and attesting to watching it in the comments. These announcements are made to ensure you understand everything that is due during the week.
APA Format and Writing Quality
• Familiarize yourself with APA format and practice using it correctly. It is used for most writing assignments for your degree. Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for APA paper templates, citation examples, tips, etc. Points will be deducted for poor use of APA format or absence of APA format (if required).

HSC 3030 Week 1 Assignment 3 The Politics of Medicare and Medicaid

HSC 3030 Week 1 Assignment 3 The Politics of Medicare and Medicaid

• Cite all sources of information! When in doubt, cite the source. Paraphrasing also requires a citation.
• I highly recommend using the APA Publication Manual, 6th edition.
Use of Direct Quotes
• I discourage overutilization of direct quotes in DQs and assignments at the Masters’ level and deduct points accordingly.
• As Masters’ level students, it is important that you be able to critically analyze and interpret information from journal articles and other resources. Simply restating someone else’s words does not demonstrate an understanding of the content or critical analysis of the content.
• It is best to paraphrase content and cite your source.
LopesWrite Policy
• For assignments that need to be submitted to LopesWrite, please be sure you have received your report and Similarity Index (SI) percentage BEFORE you do a “final submit” to me.
• Once you have received your report, please review it. This report will show you grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors that can easily be fixed. Take the extra few minutes to review instead of getting counted off for these mistakes.
• Review your similarities. Did you forget to cite something? Did you not paraphrase well enough? Is your paper made up of someone else’s thoughts more than your own?
• Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for tips on improving your paper and SI score.
Late Policy
• The university’s policy on late assignments is 10% penalty PER DAY LATE. This also applies to late DQ replies.
• Please communicate with me if you anticipate having to submit an assignment late. I am happy to be flexible, with advance notice. We may be able to work out an extension based on extenuating circumstances.
• If you do not communicate with me before submitting an assignment late, the GCU late policy will be in effect.
• I do not accept assignments that are two or more weeks late unless we have worked out an extension.
• As per policy, no assignments are accepted after the last day of class. Any assignment submitted after midnight on the last day of class will not be accepted for grading.
Communication
• Communication is so very important. There are multiple ways to communicate with me:
o Questions to Instructor Forum: This is a great place to ask course content or assignment questions. If you have a question, there is a good chance one of your peers does as well. This is a public forum for the class.
o Individual Forum: This is a private forum to ask me questions or send me messages. This will be checked at least once every 24 hours.

Connection Between Theory and Advanced Clinical Practice: NR 501 Week 4

Want create site? With you can do it easy.

Connection Between Theory and Advanced Clinical Practice: NR 501 Week 4

While this course focuses on nursing theory, some nurses believe that theory plays no role in clinical practice. What are your thoughts on this? Is there a place for nursing theory in clinical practice? How would you apply nursing theory to improve or assess clinical practice quality? Include an example that demonstrates your point of view. Remember to include a scholarly reference!

Theoretical Foundations of Advanced Clinical Practice SAMPLE INTRODUCTION

I am a firm believer in the importance of theories in daily nursing practice and future nursing development. According to Ahtisham and Jacoline (2015), theoretical research is routinely applied as systematic evidence for critical thinking and decision making,

enhancing a nurse’s professional control. Good patient quality care is characterized by characteristics of optimal and excellent care, as approved by patients, and should be based on nursing theory, which serves as the foundation of clinical practice. In order to provide a broad interpretation of the major concepts in nursing, grand nursing theories are identified by nonspecific and abstract concepts. When deciding to develop a grand nursing theory, it is critical to consider all four nursing paradigms: health, person, environment, and nursing. The original nursing theories that established a foundation and structure for nursing practice were known as grand nursing theories.

SAMPLE RESPONSE

A…, what interesting examples of the application of Henderson’s needs theory.

Henderson did not set out to create a nursing theory (Virginia Henderson, address to Sigma Theta Tau, about 1984).  She was trying to describe nursing and set up a framework for nursing education.

One very important statement you made reminded us that nursing is a very thoughtful profession.  While some theories (such as the grand theories) become so ingrained in our sense of what nursing is that we proceed with our daily caring without a conscious thought of application.  It becomes who we are as nurses.  Yet when we encounter a problem, we “activate” those theories that are within and also look for others that may be of heap.  Well said A!

The theory of nursing, as we will refer to it, contains both the medical and nursing scientific information that has been transmitted to the trainee, mostly in nursing school, and the rules of thumb that have been acquired primarily via on-the-job training and experience.
Medical scientific knowledge is very self-explanatory term.
Such information is based mostly on chemistry and biology, and it predicts, among other things, changes in chemical concentrations and biological events that will occur as result of certain invasive actions.
If you notice the following phenomenon, you should take the following action, according to standard rules of thumb.
These are solid nursing practice standards that have evolved over time and are based on experience, but they often apply to circumstances that are too complex to be analyzed in purely scientific terms.

The real on-the-job behavior of experienced nurses regarded experts by their colleagues and managers is referred to as nursing practice.
Is this expert coping behavior the product of theory implementation?
Is what is taught through experience more than just more polished and delicate theory?
If that’s the case, what is it?
What causes it to happen?
How can it be rewarded and encouraged?
These are the topics that will be discussed in this book.

In nutshell, we will demonstrate that, while practice without theory cannot yield fully trained behavior in complicated coping domains like nursing, theory without practice has much lower chance of success.
In brief, as nursing graduate builds skill, theory and practice interact in mutually helpful bootstrapping process.
Full skill can only be realized if both are nurtured and valued.

Since our Western way of being human was first articulated in ancient Greece, the relationship between theory and practice, as well as between reason and intuition, has been source of worry for our society.
And, despite the fact that it is rarely mentioned, the ostensibly Greek science of medicine played key part in the early stages of cultural self-determination.
Nursing, it turns out, has twin element that gives it unique place in our knowledge of what Western man has become 2,000 years later in our modern world.
Nursing has the responsibility of implementing medical theory, exposing both the power and limits of this and any other theory now that medicine has become theoretical science.
Furthermore, nursing as caring profession goes beyond theory and demonstrates that when human meaning is at stake, level of intuition that can never be represented by logical theory is required.
As result, nursing practice demonstrates what 2,000 years of Western thought has sought to deny: that theory is based on practice, and reason necessitates intuition.

To grasp the complex relationship between theory and practice, as well as reason and intuition in nursing practice, we must go back to Hippocrates’ attempt to transform medicine from folk wisdom to scientific art of healing.
Simultaneously, Socrates, born in 469 BC, years after Hippocrates, was attempting to comprehend this new intellectual achievement, of which medicine was only one example.
Around 400 BC, physics, astronomy, and geometry had separated themselves from ordinary, practical measurement and counting, and philosophers wondered what made these new studies so unique.
The answer was that these new disciplines were based on theory, as proposed by Socrates and improved by philosophical tradition.
There are five fundamental properties of theory.
Socrates was the one who identified the first three.
(1) Discretion.
theory should ideally not be reliant on intuition and interpretation, but rather be set out in such way that any rational being may comprehend it.
(2) The concept of universality
Theorems should be valid in all places and at all times.
(3) Abstraction is term used to describe state of being detached from reality.
theory should not necessitate the use of specific examples.
Socrates presupposes these requirements in the Euthyphro, when he assumes that moral behavior must be based on abstract, universal principles, and thus asks the prophet Euthyphro to justify his behavior by providing an explicit, universal, and abstract definition of piety, scorning Euthyphro’s appeal to examples and his own special intuition.

Descartes (1641/1960) and Kant (1963) added two more conditions to the Socratic account of theory:
(4) Reliability.
theory must be expressed in terms of isolated elements such as features, factors, attributes, data points, cues, and so on, which we now refer to as features, factors, attributes, data points, cues, and so on—isolable elements that have nothing to do with human interests, traditions, institutions, and so on.
(5) Consistency.
theory should be new whole in which decontextualized pieces are linked by rules or laws.

The theorist must remove his object of knowledge from the everyday, perceptual, social reality in order to see the universal relations between the explicit and abstract elements—in this case, the ideas—as expressed by Plato in the cave myth.
The elements, stripped of all context, form their own system—all of Plato’s ideas are arranged around the concept of the Good.
Plato observed that, whereas ordinary understanding is implicit, tangible, local, holistic, and partial, theories are explicit, abstract, universal, and encompass wide variety of parts structured into new comprehensive whole.

What do these new theoretical disciplines have to do with everyday practice, was another issue.
Medicine was the most popular example given in response to this question.
Hippocrates claimed to have theory that taught physicians what to do, unlike physics, astronomy, and geometry, which were all abstract.
Socrates praised Hippocrates for this reason, and the new medicine was held up as model of knowledge for philosophers to study.
“A philosophical physician resembles god,” Hippocrates responded to the praise.
Socrates’ inquiry became, “How is theory-based craft such as medicine different from skills based on rules of thumb such as stonecutting and cooking?”
His response arose from two observations, both of which have important implications for our modern lives.
Both were accurate medical observations, but Socrates, like any good philosopher, overgeneralized them.
He noticed that doctors claimed to be able to explain why they did what they did, and that their explanations were founded on principles that could be seen to rationally follow the behavior in question.
In Gorgias (Plato, 1937), Socrates generalizes these observations, claiming that every craft must contain “principles of action and reason” (p. 501a).

Socrates ruled out all forms of intuitive knowledge that do not appear to be based on any principles at all because he said that craft or techne must be based on theory that can be articulated by the practitioners.
Unlike medicine, cooking, for example, is “unable to provide any account of the nature of the methods it employs” (Plato, 1937, p. 465a).
It “never considers or calculates anything” and “goes right to its conclusion” (p. 465a).
Socrates believes that such intuitive talents are not crafts at all, and that professionals in these fields possess only knack rather than understanding.
This is true for intuitive professionals ranging from basketball players to chess masters to brilliant musicians, who are all unable to express rational principles based on theory to explain what they do.

Socrates believed that these kind of experts were little more than cunning crowd pleasers who relied on hunches and lucky guesses.
Only experts, such as doctors, possessed solid, dependable knowledge because they could explain why they did what they did.
Cooks have flair for making food taste nice, according to Plato, but only doctors know what is good for you and why.
But this bothered Socrates, because skillful statesmen, heroes, and religious prophets did not claim to be working on principles like doctors, and hence appeared to be on par with cooks.
Socrates set out to see if such experts were acting on the basis of theories or not.
By eliciting norms or principles from professionals in these fields, he wanted to demonstrate that morality and statesmanship were actually crafts.
Socrates, for example, assumes that Euthyphro, religious prophet, is an expert at recognizing piety in his dialogue Euthyphro (Plato, 1937), and thus asks Euthyphro for his piety recognizing rule: “I want to know what is characteristic of piety…to use as standard whereby to judge your actions and those of other men” (p. 6e3–6).
He’s looking for principle that will anchor piety in theory and therefore make it knowable.

Euthyphro responds to this requirement in the same way that any expert would.
He gives Socrates instances from his field of expertise—in this case, mythical historical scenarios in which men and gods did actions that everyone considers devout.
In Laches (Plato, 1937), Socrates poses the identical question to Laches, apparently courage expert: “What is that common attribute, which is the same in all circumstances, and which is termed courage?”
(p. 191e), but no rules are given.
This led Socrates to the famous conclusion that, because prophets and heroes could not enunciate the consistent, context-free principles that supply the rationale for their actions in the same way that doctors could explain their prescriptions, all of their abilities were only talents.
Even doctors couldn’t come up with fully developed and tested medical theory when they were just getting started.
So, since no one passed his knowledge test, Socrates grudgingly concluded that no one understood anything at all—not promising start for Western philosophy.

This is where Plato stepped in to help Socrates.
Plato claimed that specialists operated on principles they didn’t understand.
He maintained that experts had mastered the ideas involved in previous life, at least in areas involving non-empirical knowledge such as morals and mathematics, but had forgotten them.
The philosopher’s function was to assist moral and mathematical specialists in remembering the principles on which they were acting.
These concepts would serve as foundation for the expertise.
Knowledge must be “fastened by cause-and-effect reasoning,” which is accomplished through “recollection” (Meno Plato, 1937, p. 98a).

Aristotle believed something fundamental had been left out of Plato’s medical model of knowledge generation after Plato.
Rather of recognizing the ability to give explanations for their actions—like doctors do—as test of expertise, Aristotle regards an experienced artisan as having an immediate, unreasoned, intuitive response.
“Art (techne) does not deliberate,” Aristotle writes in his book Physics.
(Chapter of Physics Book II, p. 200b)
Furthermore, even if there were universal rules based on theory, Aristotle was clear that intuitive insight was required to recognize how the principles applied in each circumstance.
“It is not easy to find formula by which we may define how far and up to what point man may go wrong before he incurs blame,” he says, citing Plato’s belief that ethics must be based on universal laws (Aristotle, 1952, Physics Book, Ch. 199b).
“However, this problem of definition is inherent in every object of perception: such degree questions are bound up with the conditions of the individual situation, where our only criterion is perception,” he continues (p. 199b).

Of course, the same could be said for medication.
The two areas where theory intersects with the concrete issue, diagnosis and therapy, would necessitate intuition and experience.
Aristotle was absolutely correct.
Expert diagnostic methods, such as the computer programs MYCIN and INTERNIST, which are based on principles but lack intuition and judgment, outperform nonexperts but fall short of capturing the competence of specialists.

The Journal of the American Medical Association published systematic review of MYCIN (Yu et al., 1979).
MYCIN was given data from 10 real-life meningitis cases and asked to suggest medication.
panel of eight infectious disease specialists who have written clinical papers on the therapy of meningitis reviewed its prescriptions.
70% of MYCIN’s recommended therapy were deemed acceptable by these specialists (Yu et a1.).

The evidence for INTERNIST-1 is significantly more comprehensive.
“The systematic examination of the model’s performance is essentially unprecedented in the world of medical applications of artificial intelligence,” according to The New England Journal of Medicine, which released an evaluation of the program (Miller, Harry, Pople, Myers, 1982).
“The experienced clinician is considerably superior to INTERNIST-1 in terms of considering the relative severity and independence of the various signs of disease, as well as understanding the temporal progression of the disease process,” the evaluators concluded (p. 476).

Assignment: Goals Of Psychology

Want create site? With you can do it easy.

Assignment: Goals Of Psychology

Assignment: Goals Of Psychology

Assignment: Goals Of Psychology

Permalink:

Complete a worksheet that distills critical information in a scholarly article and compares it to information in a popular press article.

This assessment is designed to help you describe scientific research methods as presented in scholarly psychological literature. It will also help you learn to differentiate between scholarly and non-scholarly sources.

By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:

· Competency 2: Describe scientific research methods presented in scholarly psychology literature.

· Describe the hypothesis and purpose of a research study from a scholarly research article.

· Describe the study design (including observations, programs, population, etcetera) used in a scholarly research article.

· Describe the participants from a scholarly research article.

· Describe the measures used in a scholarly research article.

· Competency 3: Apply research findings from scholarly literature to current issues in the field of psychology.

· Summarize psychology research findings.

· Competency 5: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and consistent with expectations for professionals in the field of psychology.

· Summarize the main points from a popular press article.

· Write coherently to support a central idea with correct grammar, usage, and mechanics, as expected of a psychology professional.

· Use current APA format and style.

Context:

Psychology is often viewed as a career in which the professionals become therapists in order to treat mental health issues. In fact, psychology is a broad and diverse science that offers a wide variety of career options and opportunities. Because psychology is considered a science, learners must understand the concept of systematic behavioral observation and the scientific process.

The goals of psychology are to describe, understand, predict, and change or control behavior. Part of psychology is helping people, families, groups, and social situations make changes for the better. If you think about it, control is essential to functioning in a social and cultural world. Imagine cities with no traffic signals or children being permitted to wander aimlessly around streets. This would be a chaotic and scary world. Thus, we want to be able to manage human behavior in ways that are productive and helpful without being exploitive or damaging.

Because human behavior is so remarkable, psychologists also get to choose to study from a wide variety of specialties. For example, psychologists can specialize in childhood or adult development; learning; biopsychology; clinical, organizational, or health psychology; or many other areas. You name it, psychologists study it. This is both the joy and challenge of our field.

The scientific method consists of six steps:

· Observing, which we do all the time.

· Defining a problem that we perceive from our observations.

· Proposing a hypothesis or an educated guess about why the problem exists.

· Gathering evidence to test our hypotheses.

· Developing or evaluating theories about behavior based on the research results.

· Publishing the results of our research.

Questions to consider:

As you prepare to complete this assessment, you may want to think about other related issues to deepen your understanding or broaden your viewpoint. You are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of your professional community. Note that these questions are for your own development and exploration and do not need to be completed or submitted as part of your assessment.

· What was the hypothesis in the research article?

· How credible was the popular press article?

· How do the scholarly article and the popular press article relate to the thesis?

Assessment Instructions:

Preparation

Critical evaluation of a source requires locating the thesis statement. Note: You may wish to review the Anatomy of a Scholarly Article Campus page, linked in the Resources, which demonstrates where to locate the critical information in a scholarly article. The thesis statement will be the sentence or two that describes what your paper or presentation intends to prove. This differs from a hypothesis, which is used in experiments. For example:

· Thesis example: Heads-up displays should not be used in cars because they distract drivers from the road. Note: The thesis tells a reader what a paper or article will be about. It lets the reader know right away what the conclusion will be.

· Hypothesis example: We predict heads-up displays in cars will distract drivers from the road and cause more accidents. Note: The hypothesis provides a prediction (what will happen in the future) that can be tested in an experiment.

In our daily lives, we often conduct little experiments to detect cause-and-effect connections. If you are interested in gardening, for example, you might try adding plant food to one bed of flowers but not another, and then ask the question, “Does the use of plant food (the independent variable) affect the size of the flowers (the dependent variable)?” Your hypothesis might be: flowers that receive plant food will have larger and more blooms than flowers not receiving plant food. By comparing unfed plants (the control group) to those receiving plant food (the experimental group), you could then find out whether the plant food is worth using. To understand your results, you would also need to consider possible extraneous variables, such as differences in how much light both groups of flowers were exposed to, and how much water each group of flowers received.

Instructions

The Source Analysis Worksheet is provided in Resources for this assessment to help you successfully complete your work, based on the following scenario.

Scenario

Suppose you work for a nonprofit agency, providing services and support for people with intellectual disabilities. While fundraising, your supervisor ran into a number of false beliefs about the brain and psychology. She wants you to do some research into the common neuromyths—common misconceptions about brain functions, particularly associated with learning and education—and has asked you to report on one research article and one credible popular press article on neuromyths. She has asked you to evaluate the sources and information from the two articles, based on the following thesis:

· Even professionals believe in neuromyths that harm the services they offer.

In order to accurately report your evaluation of the sources, your supervisor has asked you to complete a Source Analysis Worksheet. In Section 1 of the form, you will record information on the scholarly article. In Section 2 of the form, you will record information based on the non-scholarly article.

Steps

1. Select two articles based on the given thesis to analyze for this assessment. Consider using two articles from the Resources, or select other current scholarly and popular press articles based on the thesis.

1. Complete the Source Analysis Worksheet.

5. Follow the prompts and instructions on the worksheet.

5. The scholarly article should appear in the first section and the popular press article should be addressed in the second section.

5. Provide the full reference for each article in the proper box. Use proper citations throughout.

5. Identify how each article can be used in relation to the given thesis. This should be a well-developed paragraph with proper citations for each article.

Additional Requirements

. Written communication: Written communication should be free of errors that detract from the overall message. Original work and critical thinking are required in your assessment and scholarly writing.

6. Your quotations should include quotation marks and citations.

6. Your paraphrases should include citations.

. APA formatting: References and citations should be formatted according to current APA style and formatting.

. Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12-point.

Assignment: How attitudes and behaviors connect

In this assignment, you will assess how your attitudes and behaviors connect in order to understand how cognitive dissonance as a cognitive process can influence the way you think and what attitudes you hold. This assignment is divided into three parts, so it is suggested that you begin working on it in advance.

Part I: Pick a debatable issue that you think is important to address in society today (e.g., universal healthcare). Write a paragraph discussing why you care about and agree with the importance of this issue, and why others should care about this issue as well. Allow one day before moving on to the next part.

Part II: Make sure at least one day has passed since writing the first paragraph. Now, write another paragraph detailing what you personally do to promote this viewpoint. What actions do you take to support this cause? How have you specifically contributed to promoting this issue in the recent past? You will include both of these paragraphs in your essay.

Part III: To complete your essay, identify your chosen topic in an introductory section and include your paragraphs from Parts I and II. Then, reflect on your previous responses by addressing the following points.

1. Discuss the differences between your arguments from the first paragraph (in which you show the importance of the topic) and the second paragraph (in which you discuss how you personally act on your viewpoint). Are your attitudes about the importance of the issue reflected in your behaviors (i.e., is there dissonance between your attitudes and your behaviors)? How do you feel about the level of dissonance between your attitudes and behaviors?

2. Elaborate on whether you think that your opinion of the importance of this topic has changed, particularly thinking about your initial thoughts on the topic before you wrote either paragraph.

3. Briefly describe how experiencing cognitive dissonance about a debatable issue may make a person more susceptible to social influence, such as conformity, from others who hold opposing opinions.

Throughout your discussion, incorporate research on cognitive dissonance from your textbook or another resource to support your claims.

Your response should be at least two pages in length, and you must use at least two sources as references. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; para

e with APA guidelines.

Case Study: Developmental psychology

Case Study: Developmental psychology

1. Throughout the history of the field of developmental psychology, three core conflicts have emerged in the examination of the theories and concepts (nature vs. nurture, continuity vs. discontinuity, and stability vs. change). Your understanding of these conflicts will serve as a foundation for the examination of theories throughout this course, and it is expected that you may have preexisting preferences for one side or the other in each of these conflicts. In this journal, utilize your professional and personal experiences as examples to:

Permalink:

  • Describe each conflict (nature vs. nurture, continuity vs. discontinuity, and stability vs. change).
  • Reflect on which side of each conflict you may hold a preference as an emerging professional.
  • Apply professional or personal experience and examine the three core conflicts. (You are not required to share personal or sensitive information.)

Guidelines for Submission: Submit assignment as a Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Journal assignments must follow APA-style citations, and word count must be a minimum of 350 to a maximum of 750 words.

2. The evolution of the field of developmental psychology has begun to trend toward a more holistic view of development, and this is evidenced by the theories of hereditary and environmental interaction. On the surface, these theories appear to be challenging the nature versus nurture controversy by acknowledging that each is necessary and integral to development. Upon closer review, we find that the controversy endures as each theory appears to favor one over the other within the theory. Select one of the following heredity and environmental interaction theories that you believe provides the most valid explanation for the interaction of nature and nurture, provide a brief explanation of the theory in your own words, and clearly state which side of the nature versus nurture controversy you believe is favored by this theory.

  • The canalization principle
  • The range-of-reaction principle
  • Genotype/environment correlations

Compose a post of one to two paragraphs. Reference scholarly or peer-reviewed sources to support your discussion points, as appropriate (using proper citation methods for your discipline).

3. Discuss the historical influence of Freud’s theory. How did the time period influence Freud as he developed his personality theory?
Respond to two other classmates and compare your observations on how the historical context influenced Freud’s theory.
Think about the historical context of your selected theory (Martin Seligman: Positive Psychology and Learned Helplessness) and how it may have influenced your chosen theory’s development.

Compose a post of one to two paragraphs. Reference scholarly or peer-reviewed sources to support your discussion points, as appropriate (using proper citation methods for your discipline).

4. In the previous journal assignment, you planned how to evaluate the research for your selected theories. This journal reflection delves deeper into the various sources you are evaluating for the final project.
In your journal assignment, address the following:

  • Reflect on how the sources you found support or contradict your selected theory. Do your sources meet your evaluation  criteria? Why or why not?
    • Are you able to locate at least one primary source for this theory?
  • Summarize the research source’s historical context, the research method, and how you located the research source.
    • What is the historical context?
    • What research method is used?
    • Where are you locating your sources?
  • Identify any other questions you have for the instructor at this point.

Guidelines for Submission: Your journal assignment should be 2 to 3 paragraphs in length and any sources used should be cited in APA format. Submit the assignment as a Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins
